How To Become a Social Influencer
A step-by-step guide
Becoming an influencer is not something that happens overnight but even teens can do it if they know how. Check out the steps below to see what it takes!
Step 1: Identify Your Niche
The first step is to identify your niche. A niche refers to a position or interest that allows someone or something to thrive in a particular environment. Or in other words a passion of yours. Maybe it’s beauty, music, gaming, or sports. You can also think about influencers you are drawn to and the products they promote.
Step 2: Select a Platform and Become a Member
Influencers use platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and a few other platforms. The right platform depends on your preference, geographical location, and niche. For example, YouTube may be the best option if you enjoy making videos. Instagram is great for photos. Whatever option you choose, remember that they must be professional and of high quality. There are tons of videos on YouTube that can show you how to do this. Check them out!
Step 3: Build Your Rep
The key to being an influencer is to have a good amount of people following you. In order to make this happen, you need to have a good reputation. Always be honest and engage with your followers. Make them know they can trust you and the products you promote. Be genuine and be yourself. Don’t make negative comments and don’t allow your followers to post ones either.
Step 4: Consider Joining an Agency
Though not a necessary thing, joining an agency can be quite helpful. Their job is to get you in touch with companies looking for influencers. You only need a minimum of 2000 followers to become an influencer. However, all your followers must be real and if using Instagram, your account must have a score of at least 85 with an IG Audit.

Step 5: Locate Companies Actively Looking for Influencers
Once you have at least 2,000 followers, you’re ready to get in touch with companies looking to add influencers. Visit their websites and see if they have an influencer program or contact them via their email. Contact brands that you believe in and want to promote.
Step 6: Enjoy Being an Influencer!
Now that you are an influencer, enjoy all that comes with it. You will get paid in cash (commission) and/or you may also get free products. Also, based on your niche, you may get invites to events including fashion shows, product launches and more.
It takes work to become an influencer but it can be done. Just remember to stay true to who you are, believe in what you are promoting and enjoy the rewards!
